5K Victory

Well, no I didn't win the 5K, but it was a victory. Saturday, November 17th, was a beautiful morning. The route was chalked, balloons flying, and stretching beginning. The beautiful fall trees lined the sidewalks, and the sun and blue sky were picturesque. There was a fair turn out of runners, and it was just a fun friendly race. (even though my dear friend Zack won!) The facebook vote for what we had to wear ended up being 80's workout attire, which was goofy and fun to say the least, but my advice to anyone is NEVER run or walk a 5k in Keds... worst idea ever. We harvested a lot of funds, but are not sure of the financial standings yet. The support is still trickling in! Praise the Lord for His provision. Anyways, all that to say the 5k was a success. Loads of fun and a beautiful day.

5K fundraiser

Attention. Attention.

The Global Boot Camp students are hosting a 5K fundraiser to harvest funds for their upcoming missions trip to Nepal. Come out to McKay's Mill on November 17th to run/walk 3.2 miles and support this mission. Registration begins at 8am in the clubhouse parking lot, and the 'race' begins at 9am. No entry fee required, but sponsorship or donations are welcomed. Not up for the run/walk aspect? You can sponsor a participant or a GBC student, making you a major part of this event! For any questions, more information, or sponsoring help contact Kayla Townsend at kayla.townsend@gmail.com

Still unsure what this is for?
This is a 5K fundraiser to help harvest in funds for the Global Boot Camp program we are in. It is one way we get to see the Lord's provision financially! We have costs for our classes in the states, and the resources we use. However, the majority of the funds go towards our overseas mission trip, which this year is to Nepal. The money we raise will get us there and cover cost of living, as well as any resources, materials, and needs the Nepali people or missionaries there currently need.

***Furthermore***
I, Kayla Townsend, will be participating in this 5K and am in need of some sponsorship! If you are interested send me an email, phone call, text, snail mail, facebook message, tweet, anything really, and let me know!! kayla.townsend@gmail.com   615.210.9076

Mrs. Rhett

My sister is officially off the market and married to Mr. Jordan Rhett. I couldn't be happier for them! She was such a beautiful bride, and I'm gonna miss keeping her all to myself ;)

Aftermath

Back from Social Surge!! What a great time. The Lord answered every prayer. No injuries and the Lord moved in a powerful way. The students learned about being unique and unified. How God had created them fearfully and wonderfully. Also how God's love is constant and perfect. Nothing we do can make Him love us less, and nothing we do can make Him love us more. His love is unlike anything we can fathom or have experienced. The students learned about guarding your heart, and living out that principle everyday. Overall, success! Fun times, lot of laughing, and learning. Wonderful experience serving and leading for us three girls.

Blind

Art inspired by 2 Corinthians 4.3-4

If our message is obscure to anyone, it's not because we're holding back in any way. No, it's because these other people are looking and going the wrong way and refuse to give it serious attention. All they have eye for is the fashionable god of darkness. They think he can give them what they want, and that they won't have to bother believing a Truth they can't see. They're stone blind to the day spring brightness of the Message that shines with Christ, who gives the best picture of God we'll ever get.

Re-Present

Back from an exciting week of camp. My last time being a participant in all the fun games and loosing my voice from team chants all week.. maybe... God did such incredible things!! I heard the voice of the Lord ever so clearly, learned the importance and power of prayer, and prayer in evangelism, and got to help lead and minister to many different girls all week. SO much learning, fun, and growth.
Thank You so very much for all your prayers, I really felt covered and know this week would not have had the same amount of breakthrough without it, so Thank You.
My friend Zack also was blessed by prayer this week and was baptized with the Holy Spirit, and in water!! Praise the Lord for all He has done and is doing!
Please continue in prayer for us to continue to seek the face of God first, for greater revelation, and for this week to be the beginning of a lifetime re-presenting men to God and God to men. We are Christ's ambassadors to all men, and His message of the gospel is strong and sure. May we have wonderful testimonies of the people God reaches through us, and may they be lasting disciples of Him.

PreCamp

Camp Garner Creek, church camp, is approaching so fast!! One week away folks... I invited all my friends to join me this year and was blessed with the responses, but my dear friend Zack will be coming with me. Please cover us in prayer. And for all my friends who were not able to make it, that they will still get to hear what was taught, through the students coming back.

Stubby

Please be in prayer with me for Stubby, my precious car, to be reliable. I did get in a wreak this past winter and damaged it quite a bit, but my baby Honda Accord is so very important to me. My dad put so much time and had work into fixing it up, and made it run again. It came back to life! It's reliability though is a bit iffy... It decides not to start on extremely hot days and extremely cold days. Just be in prayer that when I really am in need of transportation my dear Stubby will be there for me to rely on!

The Update

In order to keep my family and friends updated on this journey post high school, a blog seemed like the logical thing to do. Fair warning my first experience blogging was when I was much younger, and really didn't have anything interesting to say, so the commitment to actually posting was.. nonexistent. I want to make a fresh commitment to the people supporting me with love, prayer, and financial help, that you are a huge part of my ongoing journey. My wish is to maintain contact and let you know exactly what God is doing in my life, how to pray for me, and things I'm learning. So, as always, here is the concise kick-off update:

  • I have graduated high school!! What a wonderful time of celebration. I will not miss returning this fall, but good ole Fred J. Page High School (Freddy J.) will always bring great memories.
  • I am now a substitute at Stepping Stones Academy (daycare/preschool). This is mainly a summer job, but I get to work with infants up to five year olds and am learning new things every day. (did you know that babies can spit up every five minutes!? I know now.) God has so blessed me with this job. It was as easy as praying for Him to show me the job He had for me this summer and the next day I received a phone call telling me the job was mine if I wanted it (with no prior interest, I would say that's a miracle.)
  • I get to babysit my neighbor once a week. Babysitting is looked over in the area of employment, but once again another work of God for me. I get to create relationships with my neighbors and be a part of teaching their little boy. It's a blast.
  • I have been officially accepted into the Global Bootcamp Program! I knew it was what God wanted for me. The interview process was a success and my excitement for the program to actually begin is monumental. With the unfailing provision of my Father, through the use of generous support from my friends and family, I am proud to say I am over 3/4ths funded for the entire tuition of the program!! Praise God. He is faithful.
  • My last annual church youth camp is approaching. July 23- 28 will be, as always, a wonderful week in the Lord. It is a real growing week for me every year, and could use prayer as it approaches for greater intimacy, leadership, worship, and safety in travel and being there.
I certainly can't wait to share everything God is doing, and bring glory to His name.
