Holi

The Indian Holiday Holi has begun. It's pronounced "holy" and usually falls over our Christian Holy week. This is very much the counterfeit. I have heard many stories of the origin of Holi, but they have been a bit differing. Basically, in Nepal, boys celebrate Holi as early as they can. It's a time to throw water on people "expecially women". So water and paint are the most common things to throw, but in Nepal boys like to throw much more. Urine, Sewage water, anything gross they can find. It can hit you from on the roof of a building, someone can douse you on a scooter, or just innocently walking down the road. It's crazyness. One girl in our house has already been hit with sewage water, during a day we had no water at the house to bathe in. The actual day of Holi will be this Tuesday. We will not leave the house. On that day especially, it's not against the law, and everyone gets away with it. There are just so many strange things I'm encountering, not just strange, but so opposite I would be used to in America. Law here is so corrupt, and these sorts of things can happen all the time with no consequences.
